Day of Pain

Let's just say it was a bad day to be a Blue girl. :(
Kate took a spill on the pavement,
Keri got braces,
but Haylee won the contest for sure....
Haylee fell out of the mini van, car seat and all. Long story short...Kate, Haylee and cousins were playing games inside of Grandma's van. Haylee was playing backwards on the car seat which was sitting on the seat, but wasn't buckled in. She swung hard to the left to say "boo" (her new favorite game) and out of the car she tumbled car seat and all. She ended up face down on the driveway with the car seat pinning her to the ground. We were able to get ice on it right away but I was pretty worried that we would be making an ER trip. I knew she was fine, when just a few minutes later, she was mad at me for not letting her play games in the yard with the rest of the kids. They were having fun and she was stuck in the house with a bag of frozen corn on her face! ;)

Dimock Family

I have gotten so far behind with my blog postings! I've just been so busy that I haven't had time to Blog my sessions. Bad Keri! I'm turning over a new leaf...(ok, lame pun) starting with the Dimock family. They ROCKED!!! They even had a leaf fight! It was great!
Here are a few of my favorites...

Van Norman Family

What a FANTASTIC family! They were hoping for an outdoor session, but, alas.....it was pouring down rain... BUMMER!!! We were able to get a few shots outside at the end of their session, but it involved us literally standing outside waiting for a break in the rain, and then rushing out for the shots. They were really good sports about it and I am soooooo happy with the way the studio session turned out! What a beautiful family!

Morgan

I loved my session with Morgan and her mom. What a little angel! She wasn't too sure of me in the beginning--it might have had something to do with the huge camera I kept pointing at her, but by the time we finished she was all SMILES!!! OK, I admit, the fruit snacks helped...

Ita and Jeremy

Wow! What a weekend! I feel like I got the best of everything this weekend. I was able to drive to Seattle with my good friend Eileen and I was lucky enough to have my cousin, and good friend, Amy, shoot the day with me.

Jeremy and Ita are amazing! I had so much fun with them. They actually got married in Hawaii this past January. A lot of Ita's family lives in Indonesia and were not able to make it to the wedding, so this past weekend Jeremy and Ita had a reception in Seattle to celebrate with their family and friends. Part of the reception included a Tea Ceremony that was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!

The day was perfect! It started off with pictures early in the morning. Jeremy and Ita were so great! They planned time for pictures before AND after the reception. LOVE that!!!! Eileen and I pulled into town the night before and met up with Amy and family to scout out the portrait locations. We came up with a plan and hoped for good weather!

The weather was GORGEOUS!!!! We had a slightly overcast morning and it warmed up in the afternoon. Perfect!!! We started out at Kerry Park, then went to Seattle Center and then finished up at Pike Place Market. The reception was at Salty's....and the food was amazing! Lily, their wedding planner, did a fantastic job with all the details.

After the reception we went to Olympic Park for some shots in Ita's reception gown. We got some beautiful shots with all of the fun sculptures and art pieces... and then we pulled out the fish eye lens for some fun!

Jeremy and Ita, I had such a great time with you! It was an absolute pleasure spending the day with you both. It is obvious that the two of you are amazing people with a deep love for each other. Thank you for trusting me with your special day!

Speeding? Not me!!!

The ONLY downer of the Seattle weekend was on the way home. Here's how it went down:

Keri: Driving along chatting with her friend, laughing, talking, having a really great time. The car goes up and over a little hill and there he is...da da dum....

Keri: Seeing the officer, thinks, "I wonder how fast I'm going." Looking down she realizes that she is going 13 mph OVER the limit. Oops. As soon as she sees the cop she just starts making her way to the side of the road cause she knows she's toast. Sure enough he's after her. Keri removes her seat belt as soon as the engine is off. Mistake 1.

Officer: "Hi there. Do you know the reason I pulled you over?"

Keri: Said in a cheery, apologetic voice. "I sure do! I was totally speeding. I didn't mean to, but I was. I came up and over the hill and saw you--looked down and started pulling over. " (Yes, I actually said "totally speeding" to a police officer. Sigh. What can I say, I was nervous!)

Officer: Obligatory laugh. "I see that you are not wearing your safety belt."

Keri: Said in panicky voice with laughter. "Oh no! I promise that I was wearing it. I just took it off when I stopped the car. I SWEAR!!!" More nervous laughter. Then remembering that this is a solemn event, says, "I know this isn't funny." More nervous laughter.

Officer: "May I see your license and registration please?"

Keri: "No problem. Let me get it." At this point my hands are shaking and I feel like I might vomit having only been pulled over one other time, 13 years ago...for speeding. Mistake 2....Proof of insurance is expired. Mistake 3.....Registration card is expired.

More nervous laughter from Keri.

Officer: Taking the license, announces that he'll be back.

After what felt like FOREVER, but was probably only 5 minutes or so.

Officer: "OK, your registration is current and I was able to verify insurance. You were going 13 mph over the legal limit. I'm going to cite you for 5mph over. Your insurance shouldn't make too much noise about that. Make sure you get your paperwork squared away once you get home."

Keri: Said respectfully, "Thank you, sir."

Officer: "One more thing. If you ever have an emergency vehicle escorting you to the side of the road in the future, pull to the right side of the road rather than the left." Argh!!! Mistake 4.

At that point I just started babbling about how I'm from a really small town and Seattle traffic is really scary and I didn't know what to do.....and....and...and....I call it diarrhea mouth when that happens. My mouth just kept going and I couldn't stop the words from coming out....ever had that happen? In my defense, I was in the far left lane of 4 lanes of traffic. He was in the median and there was a WIDE open emergency lane on the left. It made so much more sense to go to the left rather than crossing 4 lanes of busy Seattle traffic to get to the right. Right?!

Now that it's over I can totally (yes, totally) laugh about it. The officer was really cool about it. By the end he was laughing...I never stopped laughing-- my laughter just got less nervous. Today, I am sending in my payment of $93--which could have been for SO MUCH MORE!!!! My only regret at this point? Why didn't I get a picture with him??!!! Wouldn't that be the perfect ending to this blog entry??!!
